On our second date Jen took me paddleboarding in Canmore/Banff for my first attempt ever.
On our third date, we went to Waterton National Park and rented paddleboards from Blakiston and Co. , a local SUP rental shop, exclusively carrying the most beautiful SUP boards we had ever seen. We had our own SUP roof carrier so luckily we were able to escape the inner harbor and its choppy waters where most renters are confined to paddling and were able to head up to Cameron lake which was to this day still our favorite place we ever paddled. Waters were choppy and balancing my dog on the front of the board presented some challenges but the experience was really dope. Unfortunately, an iPhone/water encounter left us with no photos of this spectacular paddle, but trust us. Since that day we have been following Four Oceans online and every time we rented boards elsewhere we compared them to these beautiful light weight boards in Waterton. Knowing that Blakiston and Co had brought in a new, longer, lighter, touring board “cook”, we made it a priority to venture back to Waterton last weekend for their season opening to get a first glimpse and ride on these beauties. WE FELL SO IN LOVE WE BOUGHT TWO OF THEM ON THE SPOT! Unfortunately Cameron Lake is closed for the summer, but we ventured out of the townsite with our boards and checked out some of the other minor lakes in the park. These boards provide a sweet smooth ride, cut through waves easily, are very stable, and most importantly, incredibly light to carry. That was the biggest selling feature! We clearly didn’t think through how we would store them in our condo though (see photo above!).
